Yes. If it was a UPI/online transfer, immediately contact your bank and raise a “wrong beneficiary/incorrect transfer” complaint, providing the transaction ID, amount, date and recipient details. NPCI’s dispute mechanism allows banks to raise disputes for transfers made to the wrong account or unintended beneficiary.

Dear Client,

Recovering an incorrect digital payment is possible most of the time as long as a person moves fast. As per Section 72 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, anyone who has received money by mistake is required to return that amount. Immediately contact your bank’s support team to inform them about and reverse the incorrect transaction. If the money was sent through UPI, the complaint can be registered on the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) website or via one of the UPI apps. If the matter is not resolved by the bank or the transaction is not reversed within a month, a complaint may be filed with the RBI Banking Ombudsman.

I hope this answer helps. If you have any further query kindly do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you
