► I am currently working as an Accounts Assistant in a private college and have received an offer from a new company with a joining date around 12 June 2026. I submitted my resignation on 20 May 2026, but have not received a formal response from HR. I was verbally informed to continue working until a replacement is found. I am seeking guidance on my notice period obligations, resignation process, and the steps required to ensure a smooth and professional transition to my new job.

Dear Client,

It depends on your terms of service or appointment letter how you fulfill your obligation during the notice period. If you have resigned already on 20 May 2026, it will be wise to communicate with the HR department in writing and keep a record of the same. Your employer cannot make you wait until he finds another person to replace you when your notice period gets over or he waives it. It is important that you ask your employer for confirmation about your last day at work and also perform the handover process. Get an acknowledgement from your employer for your resignation as well to ensure smooth transitioning to your new job. Prior to taking up a new employment, take care of all exit formalities, such as clearance, salary, experience certificate, and relieving letter.

I hope this helps and if you have any further issues do not hesitate to contact us.
