Dear Sir,

When you appear before the police, cooperate with the investigation and provide your version of the facts. You have the right to know the nature of the allegations being made against you. If the complaint is only at the inquiry stage and no FIR has yet been registered, the police may be attempting to understand both sides of the dispute and explore whether the matter can be resolved. You should carry any documents, messages, emails, or other evidence that support your case.

If the allegations are serious and there is a possibility of an FIR being registered for cognizable offences, you should immediately seek legal advice regarding anticipatory bail for yourself and any family members who may be implicated. An advocate can assess the complaint and advise whether protective legal remedies are required.

Dear Client,

If your wife has filed a harassment complaint against you and your parents, and the police want to talk to you at the station, you should go. It’s best to consult a lawyer first for guidance tailored to the situation. Don’t ignore the cops or try to touch base with, warn, or affect the complainant or witnesses in any way. Gather all info about the complaint and keep any evidence that might help your case. If there's a chance they might haul you in for something serious, like an alleged crime under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (which covers husband or relative cruelty), chat with your lawyer about getting anticipatory bail.

I hope this helps and if you have any further issues do not hesitate to contact us.

Dear Client, if the police have called you regarding a complaint filed by your wife, you should attend the police station and cooperate with the inquiry. It is advisable to consult a lawyer as soon as possible. Carry any documents, messages, or other evidence that may help explain your side of the matter. The next steps will depend on the nature of the complaint and the facts of the case. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us in case you’re in need of further assistance. Thank you.
