Keratin Treatment Permanently Altered My Hair

Consumer Protection Act, 2019
► In October 2024, I realised that my natural hair texture was not returning after a keratin treatment performed at a salon. I had been under the impression that the treatment was temporary. However, my natural hair grew from the roots while the treated lengths remained straight, creating a noticeable difference in texture. Eventually, I had to cut my long hair to shoulder length because of this difference.
When I approached the salon and raised my concerns, the staff merely touched my hair and refused to take responsibility or offer a satisfactory solution. I was also not provided with a bill for the treatment.
This experience caused me considerable distress, financial loss and the loss of my long natural hair. I would like to know whether this could constitute deficiency in service or an unfair trade practice under Indian consumer law.
Since I first noticed the problem in October 2024, I would also like advice regarding the limitation period for filing a consumer complaint, whether a complaint is still possible, what evidence would be required in the absence of a bill, and whether I can seek a refund or compensation.
What legal remedies are available to me, and what practical steps should I take now?
