Dear Sir,
Under Hindu law, marriage with most cousins is prohibited relationship
Under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 (HMA):
You cannot marry a cousin who is within a "prohibited degree of relationship"
This includes:
Father’s brother’s daughter
Father’s sister’s daughter
Mother’s brother’s daughter
Mother’s sister’s daughter
Unless your community/custom specifically allows cousin marriage, such marriage is illegal and void.
In Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, most Hindu communities follow the rule that cousin marriage is not allowed.
