How should chat logs be properly presented in court?
To make them legally strong:
Original device (mobile/laptop) preserved
Screenshots + full chat export
Section 65B Certificate stating:
Device ownership
Chats were not tampered
Date/time authenticity
Corroboration (call records, travel proof, witness statements)
Can illegally obtained chats be used?
Risky, but sometimes allowed
Chats obtained by hacking or spying can be challenged
However, family courts focus on truth over technicality
