Dear Sir,
Can the court allow video-conferencing if you are abroad?
YES — in genuine cases, but not as a matter of right.
Indian courts have allowed VC appearance when:
Party is working abroad
Long separation already proved
Mutual consent is undisputed
However:
Many Family Courts still insist on at least one physical appearance
Especially during second motion
Since your wife is an advocate, she knows that courts often demand personal presence despite VC.
Courts insist on personal interaction with both parties to ensure:
Free consent
Absence of coercion
Possibility of reconciliation
A Power of Attorney holder (even father) cannot:
Give consent
Record statements
Replace your presence for final divorce
