► I am recently married in November 2025 its a intercaste love marriage. Due to some complications from my side on tha date of marriage and also i have spoken some lies to my fiancee now wife ,which now comes in front of them. I admit all my mistakes that i have committed. But after date of marriage her family is not allowing her to come to my place ,especially her mother. Her father is in my support he still understands me that i did all these mistakes but all are unintentional. Now she and her mother is saying that my wife will apply for divorce. So is it possible that divorce will be granted ,and if yes on what grounds, and if not , then what are the implications. Please suggest genuine responses. Thanks

Dear Sir,

Can your wife get divorce just because of lies / family pressure?

NO, not automatically.

In India, marriage is not dissolved merely because spouses quarrel, misunderstand, or parents oppose the marriage.
Divorce is granted only on specific legal grounds, not on emotions or parental pressure.

What are the implications if she files divorce now?

Scenario 1: She files divorce

Case will take years

Court will attempt reconciliation

Weak grounds → likely dismissal

Scenario 2: She files false cases (498A, DV)

This is unfortunately common

But you have legal remedies

Inter-caste love marriage + father’s support works in your favour.

Can YOU take legal action?

If separation continues, you can file:

Petition for Restitution of Conjugal Rights (RCR)

This shows:

You want marriage

Separation is not your fault

Courts take RCR seriously in early marriages.

No divorce case can be filed before expiry of one year from date of marriage. However, wife can apply for annulment of marriage on various grounds but that too she cannot file petition before expiry of six months from date of marriage.
