Yes. If, after a full trial, it is established that the complainant deliberately fabricated/forged documents and knowingly initiated a false criminal case against the accused merely to harass or pressurise him, the complainant himself can face criminal proceedings. But acquittal of the accused alone does not automatically mean that the complainant is guilty of forgery or false prosecution. The required ingredients and the complainant's knowledge/intent must be established.
Since the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS) has been in force from 1 July 2024, the exact provisions depend partly on when the alleged acts were committed.
