Dear Client,
If your Google account was restricted after CSAM material was unintentionally downloaded and uploaded to Google Drive, you should take the matter seriously and seek advice from a criminal-law advocate immediately.
The fact that you claim you did not know the nature of the files may be relevant, but whether any criminal liability arises depends upon the circumstances, including how the files were obtained, stored, uploaded and handled.
Do not download, open, forward, share, copy or otherwise access the material again.
Do not attempt to conceal, alter or destroy potential evidence, and do not contact or threaten any person connected with the material.
Preserve the account-restriction notice and other relevant account information and show them to your advocate.
Whether the police will investigate or contact you cannot be predicted solely from an account restriction; any investigation would depend on the facts and applicable law.
You should obtain confidential legal advice before making any statement to authorities and cooperate with any lawful investigation through your advocate.
You may opt for a one-on-one consultation with our office for review of the account-restriction notice and the circumstances involved.
Hope this clarifies your position.
