► I accidentally created a modified version of my marksheet by removing certain remarks (like "betterment chance" purely for fun to prank my friends, without any intent to use it fraudulently.so didn't inclrease any marks from it. Later, while applying for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), I mistakenly uploaded this altered file instead of my genuine marksheet. Upon realizing the error, I proactively contacted the UGC to request that they mark the application as fake or discontinue/cancel it, explaining that I had already received another legitimate scholarship and did not want to proceed with this one. The UGC subsequently cancelled the application, and no benefits were disbursed from it. However, if the UGC or authorities later audit the cancelled application and compare the uploaded marksheet to official records, they might notice the discrepancies and view it as forgery. Under Indian laws like IPC Sections 463, 465, 468, and 471, could this lead to criminal charges against me, such as for forgery or cheating, potentially resulting in imprisonment up to 7 years? What are my legal risks, defenses (considering the lack of intent, accidental upload, and self-correction), and steps I should take to mitigate any potential issues, including protecting my career aspirations like appearing for government services
