► My father's origin Is jharkhand and belongs to ST caste. But after he came to West Bengal he uses surname Karmakar in all documents in West Bengal instead of Kerketta. My paternal relative uses surname kerketta in their documents in Jharkhand and has ST caste certificate. How my father apply for ST certificate with surname Karmakar? Please advise.

Dear Sir,
ST status is determined by birth and community, not by the place of residence or surname.
However, West Bengal authorities can issue an ST certificate only if:
The tribe is recognized as ST in West Bengal, or
The person produces proof that his origin is from another state (Jharkhand) where his tribe is recognized as ST, along with migration proof.
