Dear Sir,

Most municipal corporations and traffic police (like Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) or Bengaluru Traffic Police) have rules prohibiting:

Parking in front of residential gates.

Parking within 15 feet of a gate or a turn.

Parking on the footpath, or where “No Parking” signs are displayed.

Under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the Rules of the Road Regulations, 1989:

Regulation 15 clearly says:

“No driver shall park a motor vehicle in front of the entrance to any premises or in such a manner as to cause inconvenience or obstruction to other persons.”
