► My question is regarding stepping up of pay. One employee ( junior to me by promotion) getting higher pay because his tenure of service in the previous post is longer than me. We both come from a different post and amalgamates in the present post. Does his tenure of service matters in the stepping up of pay?

Dear Client,

However, the grant of stepping up of salary shall be subject to the service rules, salary revision order, and the particular situation surrounding the salary anomaly. Normally, stepping up becomes possible where an employee who holds a position similar to another, but is a senior to him, earns less pay compared to the latter based on the pay fixation principle. In this case, stepping up cannot apply if the reason behind junior earning more salary lies in any other aspect other than the pay fixation principle, such as prior experience in the past assignment, increments earned prior to joining the present position, and other legal causes recognized in service rules. In your case, since both you and the junior came from various feeder assignments before being merged to the current one, the issue of stepping up will depend on particular employment rules.

I hope this helps and if you have any further issues do not hesitate to contact us.
