Dear client, from the above question it is evident that the seller is claiming to have a lease for 999 years and you are confused as to whether to take the property or not. I advise you to not take the property but if you wish to continue kindly investigate the property as a 999-year-old lease is against the government policy and the common practice of lease hold.

Kindly reach out to us for further discussions.

None lease can be for 999 years. As per govt policy lease shall not extend for more than 99 years. So if anybody is giving 999 years of flat then the same might be false, or be fraud. The life of flat cannot last for even 100 years.

A 999-year lease is often considered “as good as freehold” in practical terms, especially in India and the UK. This means: The flat owner (lessor/landlord) has long-term, secure ownership rights. No significant risk of lease expiry in your lifetime or your children's. The leaseholder (flat owner) can sell, rent, or transfer the property like a freehold, with very few limitations. Valid Rent Agreement: Ensure proper registered rent agreement (typically 11 months or longer). Landlord’s Ownership Documents: Ask for a copy of the 999-year lease deed or sale deed (just to verify legitimacy).
